Wow over $300 per point

Just seen a thread that DVC points buying direct over $300 per point.

The Villas at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa have increased in direct price from $295 to $310. Disney’s Old Key West Resort has increased from $165 to $170 and Boulder Ridge Villas at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge has increased from $186 to $190.

So glad we bought all those years ago.

Very hard to justify those prices but I suspect they will still sell them.

So pleased we bought at $73 a Point direct back in 2003.

US citizens are awash with cash from the government. I bet some of these handouts are spent on DVC

Does anyone ever pay those prices though? There's always some kind of deal on.

I swore I'd never buy direct again after my original BCV contracts were sub $80pp back in 2002. I did though in 2018 because the add on incentive made it the most viable purchase against length of contract - 50 years CCV direct versus shorter resale.

Just did a bit of googling for historical pricing, I found this really interesting, I'm sure from memory we paid $69pp in Feb 2002 and $74 early 2003...

Pre-sales - $48
October, 1991 - $51

I can remember paying $112 pre-opening at BLT. Plus, we were given developer points we had to use at SSR.

Straw Poll , hands up anyone that thinks a DVC studio is worth £320-£500/night ? Not me & seriously anyone that pays $300/point needs to be taken away in a strait jacket! Time & again I've stated that even at $67.50/point, we will be lucky to break even by the end of the contract! We had only ever stayed onsite once before buying so it was never "look at what you could have won" as we would still be staying offsite IYKWIM

Median household income US= $68k.
Average wage about $50k.
Some states like Maryland have an average household income of $95k.
35% of Americans earn >$100k.

And generally they pay less tax, particularly if married.

Our standard of living just hasn’t kept up, mainly due to lack of innovation and productivity being low.

They have money to burn following lockdown.

Thanks for this; that's very interesting - and explains a lot about the US spending power which I'd never appreciated.
