This is not the case in advance, only after the event. I contacted Avis and they said that if the hire is via third party then the third party have to make the addition in advance.

I sat on the BA chat for a couple of hours and it was sorted very quickly.

Thank you I think that’s how I did it a few years ago phoning ba instead and giving them my preferred no and they added it in then I seen it on app a few days later!

Did you get anywhere with this OP? I have just sent an email in as I'm really wanting to skip the counter on arrival at MCO.

BA emailed me not so long ago saying they were sharing my details with Avis:

“Dear Customer,

Thank you for booking your forthcoming trip with British Airways Holidays.

As part of our commitment to customer service, we like to ensure that our customers are made aware of any relevant information prior to travel.

Avis/Budget has recently introduced an optional 'Digital Check-in' service which allows drivers to check-in online up to two hours before their chosen collection time. This service, which is free of charge, is designed to help customers get on their way quickly and safely, reducing time at the rental location. Alternatively, check-in at the depot continues to be available as normal.

To take advantage of this service, we will be sharing the email address you supplied at time of booking with Avis/Budget, the supplier of your car hire, so that they can invite you to check-in online.

The provision of your email address is for this purpose only and it will not be used for marketing purposes.

This e-mail is for clarification only and it is not necessary for you to contact us. However, should you have any concerns, you can reach us on local rate telephone number 0344 4930787 (option 1, option 2) 07:30 - 20:00 daily. Please do not reply to this email as the account is not monitored.

If you have cancelled your booking in the meantime, you can disregard the email from Avis/Budget.

Thank you for booking with British Airways Holidays, we wish you an enjoyable trip.

Kind regards,

Rita“

This was for my summer reservation for which Avis did email me (I never checked as it was cancelled).

I haven’t heard about my Xmas one yet.
