Yes I’ve had one, as above, they will offer you sedation.

I didn’t take sedation, because I wanted to be able to get back to normal straight away, so I just had the throat spray.

I have an awful gag reflex and I didn’t find it pleasant at all, I was sick a few times, but if you’re sedated then you should be fine.

Yes, I had one a couple of years ago.
I didn’t have sedation as I needed to be able to drive that day and I like to feel in control.
Being honest, it wasn’t a nice experience, but it’s not painful.
You have to swallow the camera down when told to and it felt like it was still there days later.

When they told me I’d have to have one and explained the procedure I started to black out as it was such a surprise!

On the day it was fine. Just had the throat spray as it’s easier for them if they need to have you move etc.

So I can appreciate how you’re feeling about it but it’s not as bad as it sounds.

(Never had one up the other way though!)

I've had one and chose sedation.
Like you I have a massive gag reflex and get panicky if I think I can't breathe (colds and a blocked nose are a nightmare for me).
I don't remember a thing of the procedure, just waking up with a bit of a sore throat and realising it was over as the blue overshoe booties were gone from my feet.
I was dopey as hell after, my poor Dad was holding me up, he said it was like I was drunk.

Yup me and DH both had them. I had sedation and remember nothing after getting on the table to have it done, woke up and was asked if I'd like a sandwich which I did and had no problem eating it either. DH just had throat spray and said it was fine no problem at all - he was annoyed he was not offered a sandwich tho!

I have to have another one on Saturday … I had one 2 and a bit years ago and choose sedation and honesty don’t remember anything about it. But I need another on now as the hiatus hernia they found is being abit naughty…. I am dreading it again as have an uncontrollable fear of choking, but like I said the 1st one was fine as I remember nothing about it atall. So am telling myself it will be the same again 🙂.

Sedation is the way to go, the throat spray was horrible, and if you gag a lot and are a bit weak in the pelvic floor dept I would suggest wearing a pad .

I had one about a week ago. The spray tastes horrible but then your throat is so numb you can’t feel a thing. I also had sedation as I was having a colonoscopy straight after. I can’t remember a thing about either procedure. If you can have sedation I would go for it.
