Reducing number of nights of Disney Package
Hi all. We are booked direct with Disney (dining credits, basket etc.) in May 22 into CSR.
We are thinking of doing 7 nights at Universal and 7 at Disney now (with the introduction of Genie+) and wondering can you reduce the number of nights of a Disney package without loosing the credits etc? We have a standard room booked and the Disney website is showing no standard rooms available, but I am thinking that wouldn't affect us? |

Yes, you can reduce your current stay, and as long as it's at least 5 nights, still, you will qualify for the offer.
Current room availability doesn't affect you as you already have the room booked, so it would just be an adjustment to your existing booking

We decided to do 2 nights at Universal in the middle of our stay. We have done this before. It means you are paying for 2 hotels but when we crunched the numbers the cost was pretty much the same as if we had stayed at Universal the first or last 2 nights and Disney the rest of the holiday.
Plus it means we get to keep the dining credit from the days we aren’t there. We find we are done with Universal after two and a half days, particularly with early opening. Lots more to do for us in WDW. We aren’t bothered about Genie+ as we will take advantage of the time difference meaning we’re awake early, and do the headliners during early opening, and then take a view on whether we want to buy Genie+ that day or not depending on how busy the park is. Disney used to charge an amendment fee if your holiday was cheaper but I’m not sure whether this still applies since covid. However; I would explain WHY you are reducing your stay - Genie - and where you will be going instead. Disney needs to know people are voting with their feet due to their new system.

Note that your Disney tickets are only valid from check-in when booked as part of a package so if you'd want to use them throughout the two weeks but just not stay at Disney, keep your stay in the first week and then move to Universal.
It's currently free amendments, it's only cancellations that will be loss of deposit. |
