Thank you for the responses all. To be fair I’d probably just Uber if it’s not particularly walkable - and to be honest the least walking on an already walking-heavy holiday in the stifling Florida humidity, especially as I’m ahem, a larger gentleman and asthmatic, the better! I’m looking at late April-early May, so after the Easter crowds have gone but before storm season really sets in. I’ve been before at that time of year and to me it’s very much hot enough! I couldn’t go in the height of summer!
And yes, I’ll definitely be booking a deluxe room to get the separate shower - maybe even club level if the budget allows! |

I am guilty of overthinking things with the places we are thinking of staying in at the moment
Because we have had to postpone our trip until May 2023 and have a much bigger budget due to a windfall coming I have spent the last year almost watching every vlog on You Tube and reading every report on Trip Advisor and pick up on the smallest things! I honestly have changed my mind about accommodation half a dozen times but do know that we want a few nights on Universal property before we head off to Disney due to the lack of Disney 21 day tickets. If the seats are hot I will sit on a cardigan!

One of the reasons we like to stay a few nights at a Universal property during our holiday is the fact that you don’t have to drive anywhere as Citywalk is accessible by walking, a boat or short bus ride. It means that DH can have a drink with a meal without worrying. If we were staying there for the whole holiday I would have to take an Uber to Walmart to stock up on snacks though

You can walk from Citywalk to the Kirkman road area, it is not that far
You can also get the bus from Citywalk to Endless Summer and access I Drive which has plenty of dining options Or you can get an Uber to plenty of places within a couple of miles Portofino is a wonderful hotel - club level is great, especially the breakfast. We have stayed at Deluxe and moderate hotels at Disney and all the deluxe hotels at Universal and Portofino has been the best hotel we have stayed at |

There is a walk way at the back of the hotel, you don't have to go to the front of the hotel. I would say it's probably a 10 minute walk to where Walgreens is, although you have to time crossing the roads just right otherwise you can add 5 minutes onto that!

We have stayed there and walked around to a tapenyaki restraunt on the main road, outside the hotel grounds. There was a wallgreens next door where we picked up a few snacks too.
If you walk over to the side of the complex where the pool is and follow a path around the side of the building, it takes you to the entrance off the main road. We asked a staff member earlier in the day and he told us where to go. It was a 10-15 minute walk, no probs at all. We had breakfast on site in the restraunt off the piazza too and it was excellent! A bit pricey, but good quality food and lovely surroundings. I would deffo eat there again. We then just jumped on the boat and headed off to the parks. |

It is walkable. There is a service road at the back of the hotel that goes down to Vineland Rd near Kirkman road junction and the restaurants. The main exit is a lot lot longer and needs an uber! Staff for some reason don't seem to know about it at the front exit (taxi backhands maybe?). Look on google maps and you can see the road at the back if you want to pre-plan.
