Off topic, but I see this a lot and always want to know how! Our trips to DLP have cost us £800 (inc standard dining, tickets and Eurotunnel), £2000 for the Disneyland Hotel at Christmas (inc premium dining, tickets and Eurotunnel) and £600 (inc tickets and Eurotunnel but no dining plan), all on-site and within school holidays for four of us.

I genuinely have no idea how I could possibly have got four of us to Orlando for £600-£800! I know prices are crazy currently, but even going back 4 or 5 years, I can’t see how people could have got school holiday flights, accommodation, tickets and food for £200pp. If this is true, I’d love to know how though

I think people look at the top price and assume that’s it!

I have visited DLP 14 times and only once did I pay a 4 figure sum (to stay at the Disneyland Hotel necause the PPI Fairy gave us a couple of grand).

Our last trip cost us £200 for 3 nights in the Ibis, £259 each for annual passes, and £29 each way on the Eurostar with their regular offer.

Those same annual passes (still valid 2 years later because 2020…) have got us 3 nights at the Art of Marvel hotel for £700.

By contrast our next WDW holiday is costing £5k.

How many people are you talking about and how long for £800? Right now two adults and two children for a multi day ticket is for 4 days is over £900. With the cheapest hotel at the moment for next week is £1300, with half board standard food brings it up to nearly 2K for 4 night stay. That’s without travel.

Tickets are included with DLP onsite hotels (at least when booking direct - not sure on third party, haven't checked) so you're potentially double counting a huge portion of your cost. And same as WDW, I wouldn't personally pay for the dining plan unless you would be eating at the prix fixe TS restaurants every day. Even then, I think you'd only break even. Much cheaper to pay OOP if you're planning to mix TS and QS.

I have 2 nights (3 days park tickets) booked at Sequoia Lodge in March for £280. Airfare currently priced around £60 return. 6 nights onsite WDW in a similar shoulder season would cost me triple that for the hotel alone, plus tickets and flights adding around 1k on top.

ETA: That is solo. Same hotel would be £650 room + tickets for 4 adults - couldn't be bothered entering child birthdays.

That’s 2 adults. Like I said, I booked the Art of Marvel hotel for 3 nights in November for £700 at annual pass rate.

I’m not double counting, those were just different options, the user said with standard dining so I was trying to get to a similar idea to what was said. And that got to nearly 2K.

Obviously going to WDW for such a small amount of time would be more expensive, but when you try and compare apples with apples, a lot of people go WDW for two weeks, and if you work out your per night cost at around £170 then your talking nearly £2400 for 14 nights if you was to do that. WDW will always be more expensive for a short period because your flight is always going to be considerably more.

Fair point, although people go to DLP for longer than 2 nights as well so would benefit from the same price per night reduction for a longer stay. Personally I never go to Florida for 2 weeks, I can do everything I want within a week. So for me, it is apples with apples and DLP is half the price per night.

That's fair enough, but like the initial comment said "You can get a fortnight in Orlando for the price of a week at DLP."

I guess what makes DLP different is that tickets are included in the hotel, and you typically don't spend more than a few days at DLP.

A few years back I was looking at a holiday in Europe to Greece, then TUI had some excellent prices on flights (flying within 2 weeks so fairly last minute), and it wasn't much more expensive to go to florida for 2 weeks than it was to go to Greece for one week, so we opted for florida in the end

And it depends how you do Florida. We don’t drive and don’t have children, and are only there to do Disney and Universal. So that means 2 weeks onsite, either with paid-for dining plan or paying OOP. Hence our next trip is £5k and by no means a luxury one.

Agreed there are lots of factors, you can certainly pay a lot less than 5K in Florida for 2 people for two weeks.

In 2016 when there was only two adults
Tui flights £320 (which we ended up getting a full refund on as it was over 4 hours late on the way back, which didn't really matter to us as we just got longer in florida!)
Villa £860
Car hire £200
=£1700 in total £850 each, including the flight that was eventually refunded.
I can't find the prices we paid for tickets, but we did universal and disney, I'd assume it was around £600 each back then, so that brings to a total of £2900. Obviously if you have kids or more than two people that helps split the cost down a little for the villa and car hire.
