First time booking flights - when should I book?
Hello,
So my boyfriend and I have booked to go back to WDW in May 2020 for our 2nd trip and this will be our first time booking flights separately as I'm trying to be more savvy this time. When should I be looking at flights? As soon as possible? I have had a brief look on sky scanner today and saw some Thomas cook flights for £350 return each - is this a good deal? We flew with virgin as part of our package last time and really enjoyed it but I'm sure the other airlines also do a good job. Thanks for any advice

£350 is not bad, depends when in May though as school holidays have a massive impact. In general I am happy with anything under £400 but will go up to £500 if needed. In January this year we got £244 return with BA.

That's a good price!
We're going on 3rd May - I try to stay well away from the school holidays

I would be very happy with £350 at any time, direct or even indirect. Make sure that you use a Credit card for S75 protection. (Obvious, I know).

I would not start to price up flights until eleven months before as the scheduled airlines won’t release their prices until then. That said, I think you would be lucky to beat £350.
I don’t think there is a sweet spot for booking, prices go up and down, there are sales, if you see a price thst is acceptable to you, take it and don’t look again. |

When you see a price you are happy with but I would be wary of Thomas cook flights atm that far ahead. If they go pop it will push up prices of other carriers so of you had to rebook you might end up being out of pocket

youre probably a bit early for all prices, but gave a look on ITA Matrix, also, look at indirect via Amsterdam, Charles de Gaulle, Frankfurt and Dublin

We've just booked for 3rd May today, direct with BA as a flight+hotel package but taking the hotel out of it the flights would be £335pp with bags. Looking on Skyscanner the flight only options are around £360 ish when you add in the checked bags.
