Flying into MIA this year on the LHR flight which arrives at 15:00. Booked a cheap hotel for the night at Vero Beach, which should then just leave a 1hr30 drive to Universal the next morning (making use of the fact we'll all be awake early).

Last year we did MAN - MCO (after driving to Manchester from Glasgow), this year we're doing GLA - LHR- MIA. The cost was substantially cheaper and I look at it as doing around the same driving, Miami to Orlando as opposed to Glasgow to Manchester. Fully aware that the traffic around Miami is supposed to be bad, but then it's normally bad around Glasgow and Manchester as well.

We have saved a load doing Miami this year rather than into MCO and it gives me an excuse to stay out of the parks for a few days. We are staying in Miaimi Beach on the night we land, over to Naples, up to Clearwater before Universal and Disney on site. Flight on the way back isnt until late so an easy drive down, stopping for lunch and a bit of last minute shopping.

We’ve done it Twice and drove straight on to Orlando both times.

I’m not going to lie it was tiring but it meant we made a substantial saving and we could start our holiday the next day.

Both times on our way back we stayed either in Fort Lauderdale or Naples for a couple of days before flying home.

Saying that I’m looking forward to flying direct in the summer.
