Car seat on the plane

We are travelling with our 10 month old and have purchased the seat next to us. I was wondering if anyone had taken there car seat on before (she’s still in the backwards facing style) and how they have found it? Did you still have enough room etc

We are flying virgin

Thank you

They have strict car seat in flight rules . You need to check Virgins policy ( it would appear they can't face rearwards).

I wouldn’t want to make the space any smaller. I don’t think it’s necessary really. What makes you want to?

Having flown with my children plenty of times at around this age I wouldn't think it necessary and my actually be frustrating to have less space. I know there are rules around what you can use also, so its a bit of a minefield!

We travelled with a car seat in August but had to purchase one that was certified for use (Britax ECLIPSE). We travelled with Thomas Cook and had no issues. Don't think rear facing Car Seats are permitted however. We found it useful for our son as it was something he was familiar with and made him more comfortable for the flight.

think the poster was purchasing a seat for their child and with the child being under 2 you need a car seat
other alternative is not to purchase a seat for them and for them to sit on your knee

its a personal preference. for us we felt it was too long a flight for our grandson to sit on our knee especially if there is turbulence and also meal times .

we also bought the baby gogo which the bitax seat fits into and becomes like a buggy, brilliant
