I ended up having surgery just outside the 10 weeks. My insurance is with my bank so I cant remember if I paid any extra?
That's helpful to know, thank you.

I've travelled with gall stones and without a gall bladder. Both were insured at no extra cost by my bank. I was 10 weeks post surgery when I travelled.

The key here is diagnosed v undiagnosed. If/when it’s confirmed as gallstones you’ll be fine to sort insurance, whilst it’s undiagnosed and awaiting further tests, that’s where people struggle to insure as insurers can’t quantify the risk / potential exposure should something materialise whilst you’re on holiday.

Whenyouwish I can feel your pain on this one, literally! Just been diagnosed with the same thing today following ultrasound. In a quandary over whether to call insurance company tomorrow or wait until consultants visit on Wed next week to see if they want to do anything with them. I think they will though. Would be great to hear how you got on with insurers though if you don’t mind sharing.

Whenyouwish just wanted to give you an update from my insurance company. They said that I was already fully covered should I need to cancel but if I were to travel I had to pay £100. This then covered me before the op & after for any complications however they stipulated that if I had the op within 10 weeks I would not be covered. They also said not declaring it would have rendered the whole policy null and void should I have needed to use it.

Really hoping I can now get it done in the next few weeks.

Hope you got yours all sorted.
