Connecting Flight Dilemma

Just logged into our booking on BA and noticed our connecting flight leaves before we arrived in Heathrow. Should we contact them and tell them or wait it out in case we still can’t go and have a reason to get a full refund 😧 🤔

I think I’d let them know.

The choice is yours, one for each side of the argument. Only you can decide.

We found ourselves in the same position late last year for our June flights. We decided to wait it out for a bit to see what was happening as this would get us a refund rather than a voucher. Towards the end of March we bit the bullet and cancelled and with deposit refunded (2 bookings as 1 of our party was flying out a week after us) we then rebooked for October. I personally hope that by September we will be allowed into the US. You could always give it a few weeks and see how it looks then, as it’s your domestic flight back to Glasgow that’s the issue there will be other flights back up that they can move you to. For us it was our outbound flight not landing in London until after our Orlando flight took off. Fingers crossed we all get the news soon that we can go this year.

Did you book it as a through ticket or two individual flights? If it's a through ticket, I would let them know as its their responsibility to ensure minimum connection times are met.

If it's an individual flight and they will charge you to change it, then I'd probably wait for now. My gut feeling is that we'll get some kind of update on US travel shortly after Biden's visit as I'm sure it will be a big topic of conversation at G7.

Vivien, due to number of airline seats being bought I'd contact BA soonest for an alternative. On BA's website (scroll down for LHR), you'll see a 10.10am and 12.10 mid day.

You geed me up too Vivien, must ring VS about next winters flights
