I went into Mothercare to buy a newly released travel buggy. Asked a member of staff if they had it they said no. We continued to look around the store and there it was on a shelf.

Got buggy down looked at how it opened and collapsed, spent 10 mins checking it out. 4 staff stood gossiping to each other, no one asked if we needed help. We left the store.

I sent a letter of complaint to the CEO, they referred back to manager who asked if I would talk with him which I did. He sent £100 voucher. We ordered buggy on line from them with voucher.

My youngest is 35. Back then there were not many options, getting the mother-care catalogue and ticking off what you needed was a right of passage. Howver forward onto my grandson, now aged four, and the shop was bland, clothing and essentials expensive. I think mother-care made the same error, as many shops that we’ve had on the high street for many years, in so much as they fail to appreciate the competition from others and think the name will get them through.

Feel sorry for the staff involved

The clothing prices are ridiculous. £20 for a baby grow they'll wear for a month. I don't think they understood that people have options now. As much as I like to support the high street and all, I can't afford to buy all my baby clothes in there!

Mamas and Papas is expensive too but a much nicer shopping experience.

I also thought they’d already gone.
I didn’t ever find them particularly competitive when DS was little and generally found John Lewis to have more variety and better prices.
Also, I’m not sure I’ve ever seen one on the high street? The ones we had nearby were all out of town which isn’t ideal for passing trade.

I have such fond memories of buying all my baby bits and pram in mothercare when pregnant.

I'm really sad about the news.

I'm pregnant and find Mothercare the most expensive baby shop around.

I'm another one who thought they had already closed! I don't think there's any near me now anyway!

An internet tax should be brought in, this will be the only way the high street will survive
I used to love going into Mothercare 20 odd years ago & Adams kids clothes too, sorry to see it go
