BA app - boarding pass.
Hope a fellow Dibber can help. We have always checked in on line and had the boarding passes printed while checking bags in at the airport. I have the BA app on my phone and I believe that you can get the boarding passes on your phone. Could anyone advise how this works?

It gives a QR type code that can be read by scanners and you hold your phone over the scanner.
Personally, I print off a card from the self-service machines or via the check-in desk as you still need to do bag drop anyway. |

Exactly my thinking, I do like the old fashioned paper boarding pass. Thanks for you're answer.

The mobile one is a bit of a faff as you have to hand your phone over sometimes to the gate agent and then the QR code disappears if they touch your screen the wrong way and you have to get it back. Plus it uses up your battery as the app makes the screen bright. While BA still give you a paper BP for nothing (unlike Ryanair), I just get one when I check in the luggage.

We had them on our phones when we flew out but the BA staff member taking our bags said he’d print them for us anyway as sometimes there’s problems with them at security or at the gate.

Can you check in with the app but select a paper boarding pass?

Yes you can. Or select mobile boarding pass then just ask at bag drop if they’ll print them off for you.

We used the boarding pass app last week for our flights to Gran Canaria. It was all fine on the way out and I thought much easier than having to keep getting pieces of paper out, especially with 5 of us travelling.
On the way home, they asked at check-in if we would like printed copies as well which we declined (seemed pointless to double up). What we didn’t know at that point was that our flight was delayed. By the time we were at the gate waiting to board, I had literally 2% battery left on my phone! I was willing that queue along and did wonder what would have happened if my phone had died before we got there because we had declined the backup plan and wouldn’t have had any boarding passes at all! |
