Eavesway Coach to Southampton?
Hi, I’m looking at arranging our travel plans down to Southampton this summer. I’ve currently got a hotel and parking space booked at the port but am wondering if this is my best option (they can be cancelled). Basically, driving, train and the coach are a similar price once you factor in all costs. Does anybody have any experience of going on the eavesway coach? We are a family of 4 (kids aged 9& 6) travelling from Liverpool and will have a lot of luggage to manage which will make it difficult to travel on the train and we don’t have the biggest boot in the world.

We usually drive and have used off site, on site and Just Park parking. We always have a night in a hotel, in or around Southampton. We have also taken the coach (Eavesway) from the north west for a transatlantic cruise because we only needed a one way journey to Southampton. It’s a very slick operation and would recommend it.

Thanks both. Can you remember what time you arrived at the port? Just don’t want to miss too much of the first day.

Just to give you the heads up, traffic is Southampton is horrendous. We avoid going there now for that reason. We did go on Saturday to see Mama Mia at the Mayflower Theatre and what should have took a maximum of 40 minutes took us over an hour and a half.
I would consider going the day before and therefore getting on the ship early the next day without the stress. Tracey x

There are so many roadworks and closures at the moment here! Plus Southampton were playing at home on Saturday, so that made it even worse, and the awful weather!
I would also stay the night before. I'd far rather be there on time and excited (with a nice stay in a hotel) than stressing about time and missing out on the day. Traffic is so unpredictable - especially depending on how many ships are in that day.

We've used Eavsway and they were great. We got picked up from Bradford about 6am and got to port about 2pm so it was a long long journey with lots of pick up point. When we used them they weren't the preferred supplier for P&O and so the following year we went with the preferred supplier that we got free with the booking and the journey was much shorter with a lot less stops.

We’ve travelled down from Manchester by coach a couple of times. Each time we used the cruise recommended coach company, one with P&O and one with Princess. Both times, the coach arrived about 3.30, with a couple of rest stops on the way down. If the coach gets delayed, the ship will wait for you. It’s nice for someone else to take wheel for a change.
