Mobile First week thoughts: MCO changes, CBR and skyliner.

We are coming to the end of our first week so I thought I'd take a moment to share our reflections at this point.

MCO immigration: there were no screens, everyone went to a member of staff and it was fairly quick we were off the plane and on the monorail with our bags within an hour. The route to the monorail had changed from our last trip 18m ago. We had a lot of luggage and a toddler and an 11 year old and we didn't think we'd manage the escalator safely. We were directed to a lift (admittedly there was only one so we had a short wait.) We also noticed stairs next to the new escalator so one lady with her 3 kids went up the escalator and down the stairs again to help her kids and left one at the top with the luggage. A huge improvement we felt.

We booked CBR 18 months out, speculating that galaxies edge and the skyliner would be open by our visit. We preferred Riverside but we're keen on the advantages the skyliner would open up. We were right in both respects. We don't love the resort. The pool is too cold to use, much colder than Riverside. The resort layout it fine we are in Jamaica and we find it really central for everything. The food court is not good we had a couple of mediocre meals and not being able to sub drinks for snacks is annoying. Then we had a dreadful one. We got the lasagna and it was inedible. We had it refunded and 2 extra meal credits but we no longer want to eat here, which is annoying with a toddler in tow.

We have found buses in the morning not great from Jamaica we are not sure if they fill up elsewhere in the resort then leave. Mainly we've been using the skyliner though and it's fantastic. We can leave our room and and we walking into HS in 15 mins. Epcot is a bit further but still much better than waiting for a bus. Even at peak times we've never had to wait more than 5 minutes to get on.

We decided yesterday to go to Art of Animation for lunch to avoid our food court. The walking distance was about the same and it was just 5 minutes longer with the skyliner travel time. It was so much better and we could get snacks instead of drinks. It was so much better we went to Pop Century for dinner. Again a great meal, so delicious. We'll be back to both in our next week.

We had mediocre meals at Port Royale too. Luckily we were staying at Trinidad which also had the Spyglass Grill. More limited choices but much better than the main food court and a really nice atmosphere. Handy for the Skyliner too which is possibly the biggest reason for staying at CBR now

Yes the spyglass grill is definitely better. We had the tacos and liked them but there wasn't much else we were desperate to try. We'll probably head there for a burger at some point.

Why can you sub a drink for a snack at one resort and not the other?

I have no idea really, a previous Dibber (sorry I can't remember your name) said that they were told it was due to the new tills. We've been able to at Pop Century, Art of Animation and I think someone in the queue in front of me did at boardwalk bakery. I feel it should be a standardised policy.
