Son with ADHD

Hi,
Myself and my wife are the same. We are flying with Monarch from Gatwick and were wondering if they do priority boarding for special needs. Are the Americans quite receptive to children with ADHD when you go to restaurants etc.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry to sound nieve guys was what is GAC? We are off this August and my youngest has cerebral palsy so would GAC be useful for my family too? I'm just unsure as to what it is?

Thanks in advance, Mark.

If you ring Virgin they can make a note on your booking tickets regarding 'Fast Track Pass' which you can show, and they may be able to allow you to go in the que where first class passengers go - which is obviously a lot shorter.

Good Luck.

Oh thanks alot think may need to call Virgin Special Assistance again they guy never mentioned this to me. Just might be worth finding out about.

Thanks again

Clare just wanted to say that you are definately not alone. For years I was made to feel like a "bad" parent because I couldn't control my kids and for a time I couldn't leave the house without breaking down into tears at the thought of what the boys might do next. Peoples tuts and mumblings still bother me to a degree but not in the same way it used to. I have a nearlly three year old who is very strong willed and stubborn and to an extent is identical to my eldest at that age and I am finding him harder work than the big boys now. I do worry that he may have the same condtions as the boys but for now I am putting it down to toddlerdum and the trials that go along with that!

I am soo looking forward to this holiday so anything that can make it easier has got to be a bonus hasn't it?

By the way your kids are just gorgeous!

Hi there!

Welcome to the Dibb! Unfortuanately this is our first trip to the USA also so I have no idea what the reception would be like. I would guess it wouldn't matter what country you are from more about being educated on these conditions.

I am told that the CM's within Disney are pretty clued up and understanding about most things such as ADHD and ASD but as always there will be the few I would expect that are ignorant.

I would give Monarch's Special Needs line a call and ask what they can do to help your son, if Virgin's dept are anything to go by i can expect they will be very helpful.

Sorry if I can't be much more help though
Have a great holiday

Carreen

Again I'm a newbie at this so will tell you what my understanding is.

GAC - Guest Assistance Card is a pass to help any guest to Walt Disney World that requires any help around the parks. What type of Card you get depends entirely on the individual needs.

For some that may be a quieter place to wait while queing for rides for others that may need wheelchair access this may be a different entrance.

You ask for it at Guest services and they will determine what type will suit best. Be sure to take either a Dr's Letter or DLA award letter to confirm. Although most people have said they haven't been asked - it doesn't hut does it?

There is further information at the link below if that will help

Hope that helps you

Thanks for the advice Carreen, much appreciated. We've already got a letter too from our daughter's specialist at the hospital so we'll show that at guest relations incase they query our validity!

Cheers again, Mark.
