Which airlines charge for booking seats?

When pricing up flights I will need to consider the cost of booking seats. Particularly as I will probably be going indirect.

Do all airlines charge? I know BA charge but not sure of other airlines.

Do you have to pay to book seats in Business class?

BA charges in WT, WT+ and CW. I don't know about First. Virgin charges in EC only. Some American airlines have started to charge for specific seats, eg window seats, but other seats are still free.

Thomas Cook are free for Premium Economy but you have to pay for Economy. Virgin are the same, free for Premium for a charge for Economy.

Delta free for standard seats (though I was on a KLM ticket on Delta plane not sure if that made a difference)

United was free to choose seats in advance when I flew with them last year.

That being said, I just flew with BA last week and didn't bother booking seats in advance (didn't want to pay however much they wanted), and ended up with excellent seats when I checked in 24 hours before. This included two flights with front row seats that had loads of leg room, very much appreciated given that my flights were either 9 hours or 13 hours long! I was solo though so may be a bit different to if I was travelling with family or young kids etc...
