That's what he is asking though, it's basically when does he have to use them before they disappear

glad im not the only one with problems.
I can manage to get into my husbands account but not mine. It does seem odd they wont put the expiry date on the account. esp when they take time to mention it like someone said-probably so we lose out on points. The app seems to be working a lot better. |

Miles did expire as my husband had an email several months ago advising the miles were about to expire. It said this
"Time’s running out for your Flying Club miles! If you don’t earn or spend any miles by 08/05/16, your 76040 miles will automatically expire. Not only will you lose all your miles, but you won’t hear any more from us about our fantastic offers, news and competitions." Of course we made sure the miles did not expire |

Under the old system the expiry date of your miles was shown whenever you logged on. The fact that the new system doesn't show this simple information, I find a little sinister on the part of Virgin.

Under the old system it was not the miles that expired as such but the account with all the miles in it IF you did not spend or obtain miles within a rolling 3 year window. Providing you did this ALL you miles stayed valid and did not expire. This is different to some other flying clubs (eg Lufthansa) where the miles themselves expired even if the account was kept alive. Examples below
VIRGIN Date / Miles collected 01.03.10 - 1000 16.01.12 - 20000 01.12.14 - 20000 All these miles remain valid as long as the account remains live so in the example above you would have 41k miles up until 30.11.2017 at which point if you had not used your account the ACCOUNT would expire losing all the miles within it. LUFTHANSA Date / Miles collected / expired 01.03.10 - 1000 16.01.12 - 20000 28.02.13 - 1000 miles expire as 3 years old 01.12.14 - 20000 15.01.12 - 20000 miles expire as 3 years old In this setup each block of MILES expires as they reach a certain age so it is more difficult to build up miles over a longer term period. (Hope this makes sense) |
