We literally walked straight up to a desk and were throgh in 5 minutes in September. However, that's the only good thing I've got to say about flying into Miami.

Years ago I was ‘trapped’ in the immigration hall at MIA with a plane load of passengers from Venezuela (back in the day when that country had a decent economy and their people could afford foreign holidays 😢. ).

The noise was deafening - every one of about 300 passengers were talking to each other, mainly shouting, laughing OMG it was overwhelming, I just couldn’t think properly. Plus it was so hot, I thought I would combust !

We flew into MIA last year and I think it took 15 minutes to clear immigration. As others have said it's how long is a piece of string.

We flew into MIA last August and immigration was empty yet all the desks were fully manned

We were through in less than 5 minutes plus the officer was very friendly (not like MCO)

the downside was we waited longer for luggage lol

Hoping its as easy as that when we go this year

Last time we flew into MIA we were quite lucky as the immigration hall was so full that we got diverted into the US citizens side and were through in about 5min.

The airport though is an absolute hotel- spend as little time there as possible on the way back!

We did Miami last year and it was a breeze! We were much quicker than previous years in Orlando. We heading to Miami again this time too.

Have flown into Miami in August 2016 & 2018 and both timed immigration was a breeze and we were through, in the car in an hour with no issues. No problems in immigration, bags there when through and the Miami moved to the car hire centre is very efficient. One there straight down to the garage to collect the car and off we go. I’ve spent longer waiting for my bags in Lanzarote in the summer than we have getting through MIA.

We’ve travelled several times to Miami. The first trip a few years ago was horrendous with Queues everywhere in the airport.
Since then each trip has been better than the last.
The last 2 trips, we have been through the airport , and at our hotel (by cab) in about an hour 👍🏻
