It might be due to the EU data
Protection rules which changed a while ago (was it 2017 ?). A few US sites I used to look at are now blocked and I’ve been told that it’s because they don’t want to or cannot change their systems to comply for us in the EU. I didn’t know they had to, but they obviously do 🙄

Not a very technical explanation sorry !

How you tried using a VPN like Tunnelbear? It should work then! Good luck!

I believe they don’t have to...
... unless they wish to continue to provide access to their sites to those in the UK/EU.

Whilst an EU regulation, I’ve heard that companies who, whilst not based in the EU, still provide EU access ‘could’ be subject to the substantial fines & for some US companies, it’s cheaper to block EU access & lose that business than upgrade their sites & keep abreast of EU regulations.

Whatever the ins and outs of the GDPR, the effect is the same - we lose access to certain websites beyond the EU

I can get on with my VPN but I have a paid subscription. It could be that free VPNs are detectable. I know I could never get US Netflix or Hulu with a free VPN but can with the paid one.
