I took my eldest daughters birth certificate when we went for the first time as different to mine, had no issues and wasn't asked but I'd rather have had it on me just in case, how old is your daughter they may ask her who she is travelling with and her answer will be fine x

You should be ok, but I would apply for a copy of her birth certificate ASAP she will need it when applying for bank accounts, jobs and Uni. She can do it herself during the school holidays, send her down the the local registry office (she may need some form of ID maybe her NI number) Happy holidays and make lots of memories with your girl.

We've never got married so "mrs Thorpy" still has her original name. Our Daughters have my surname...(eldest is 12). It's never even been mentioned, and at 16 your daughter can speak for herself and back up what you say.
If you find her birth certificate...take it. If you don't then certainly don't worry, as chances are nobody would care anyway.

My daughter was 16 when we went, she still has my maiden name, we didn’t take anything other than her passport. The only time a question was asked was coming back into the UK, DD was walking with DH, they asked if she knew DH and was ok travelling with him.

I go every year with my daughter who has a different surname (just us two). I’ve never taken a birth certificate or anything. They’ll prob just ask your daughter to confirm that you are her Mum. Don’t need to take anything x
