Tampa airport

How easy is it getting through customs and in and out of Tampa airport? What’s the drive like to Orlando? Just looking at options for cheaper flights, and wonder if it will be easier after long haul flight to go there as Orlando airport security takes ages in school holidays. Thanks.

We much prefer Tampa, in our experience has been faster through immigration than MCO and the drive takes about an hour and 30 mins depending on where your villa / hotel is.

Tampa is a great alternative airport. We didn’t have to queue or wait for immigration, luggage or car hire. The journey from the airport onward to Orlando is easy. Go for it 👍🏻

We arrived into Tampa this year and are doing so again next year. It's an easy 1hr 30 drive into orlando and Tampa airport is stress free and lovely. It's so much better than Orlando immigration too.

We were on the road within an hour and a half of landing. I will use Tampa again.

As others have said Tampa is a far superior and easier airport to MCO. Get through immigration a lot easier and the efficient garage means you are out and underway quickly. Road is direct to Orlando - if you mean Orlando that is 90 mins maybe. We stay at Highgrove on the 27/192 and can do that in about an hour. Tampa is our airport of choice.

I’ve booked to fly into Tampa for next year. Got a good deal on flights too. Don’t mind the drive, may even stay in Tampa a couple of nights first or at the end not made my mind up yet.
Go for it , it can’t be any worse than MCO can it ?

As everyone has said Tampa is a great airport, much easier to navigate than Orlando. Last year we landed, through immigration, collected luggage and in the car within an hour. I assume you will be hiring a car which is a monorail ride from the main terminal, first ride of the trip 😂. Journey time to Disney area is about 60-90 mins depending on traffic and weather its a weekend or week day.

We usually fly via Miami but opted for Tampa for year based on price.
Also be staying in Tampa for a few days before driving over to Orlando, so it'll be rude not to visit Busch Gardens I say 🤭

Pleased I've read this thread as we fly in to Tampa soon.

Has anyone experience of flying in on a Sunday, I read weekends in particular are really busy.
