I’m not being argumentative here (it can be hard to tell on forums) but I don’t remember this being an issue when I was younger. We always had a right menagerie and I can’t recall any of them being frightened particularly or anyone else mentioning it. A couple of the horses used to get the wind in their tails but we would just bring them in and they were then fine.
I’m genuinely curious as to why so many pets (usually dogs) are so scared now (or so it seems)
Is it just because so many people have dogs these days?

I just think it's so random (and louder) nowadays also goes on for probably 3 weeks.

You’re probably right. I think it was a shorter period then

I was in town the other day. Someone was selling fireworks from a shipping container. He was also having a cigarette in the open doorway in a ferocious wind.
If brains were dynamite...

The post was a joke

But to answer your question I think there’s two issues

1 ) social media so people have a platform to moan publicly whereas before they didn’t

2 ) dogs used to be treated as dogs now way too many treated them as family members .. dogs on the whole seem far more pampered than they used to be

However we have a lab and she couldn’t careless if fireworks are going off , she barely stirs .

The social media posts on my village fb groups will no doubt start in the next day or two

I remember going to a fancy dress party dressed as a firework.
I came first and won a bottle whisky which I happily drank that evening.

On the way home I was arrested for being really drunk.

The Police let me off.
