Is the World of Colour Dining Package worth it
Hi all,
Quick question for those of you that have done the above dining package, is it worth it? It's my husbands 40th birthday whilst were over in Disneyland and thought it would be a good idea to do the dining package as a bit of a surprise. Thanks in advance |

I’d been looking at this as we only have a couple of Disneyland days and wanted to get the best view of the fireworks etc.
I then researched and realised just how unreliable the fireworks schedule is (when compared to Orlando). This is due to the wind usually as even the slightest breeze they have the be mindful of being so close to densely populated residential areas. I’d only book on the basis you will enjoy the restaurant experience, menu etc. I’ve decided not to book based on my teenagers who are fussy eaters, I’m going to take my chances with FastPass instead.

World of Color is different to the fireworks
The fireworks at The Castle are in the main park. They have an unreliable schedule and can be cancelled last minute due to weather. Also depending on the time of year and high or low season, they may not be scheduled every night. World of Color is in California Adventures Park. It is usually scheduled every night and does not get cancelled like the fireworks. World of Color is a water fountain show, with music, animations projected onto the water screens and special effects. World of Color has 4 different viewing sections. Regular Standby These are the furthest back from the water. You do not need a ticket for this section. This is a standing only section Fastpass Section This is infront of the Regular Standby, nearer the water than Regular Standby. These sections are standing only and require a free Fastpass ticket. You get the ticket from the Fastpass kiosk earlier in the day. Depending on crowd levels in the park, these tickets run out, so you need to get one early in the morning. Dining Package Ticket. These viewing sections are the closest to the water and include the splash zone at the very front. You book the dining package in advance through the Disneyland website. You will eat at your selected restaurant during the day. When you pay for your meal you will be given your World of Color ticket. These viewing sections are standing only. Desert Party Ticket This viewing section is the only one with a chair and table. It is located on a raised area just behind the dining package viewing section. You book this in advance through the Disneyland website. You show your reservation to the CM before the show and you will be assigned a 4 top table and chairs. You will get your food served to you just before the show starts. I have done the Wine Country Tratoria World of Color Dining Package. I had a lunch time restaurant reservation. The food is Italian American and mid price. Many of the tables are outside but you can ask to be seated inside, in the air conditioning. For the World of Color show, the viewing sections usually open 1 hour before the show time. I was at the viewing section check in about 20 minutes before the viewing sections were open. There were about 5 people ahead of me. When they opened the viewing section, I managed to get a space at the railings just behind the splash zone. On the day I was there, the viewing section filled up very fast, and about 20 minutes before the show time, some families were annoyed that it was very crowded and their kids could not see. All together, from the time I arrived at the viewing section check in, to end of the show, I was standing for about 2 hours. |
