Free 1/2 board meal breakfast

Sorry in advance if this question has been asked before.
We have got the free 1/2 board meal deal with our package.
From what I have read this means that it's a voucher in the park and
not a breakfast in your hotel.
This is going to cause a problem for one of our party.
Can you phone DLP and pay for an upgrade to your dinning plan, and then get your breakfast at your hotel?
From what I have been reading it all looks very confusing

You can upgrade when you get there I believe its subject to availability, for 10 per person per day and you need to hand your breakfast voucher in.

The price may be different dependant on the hotel your staying in.

can you? my understanding of the "free quick service" breakfast voucher is that it can't be used in part-payment against your hotel buffet breakfast. I believe you can pay for buffet breakfast at your hotel OP, but I don't know if you can do so day-by-day or if you need to book it for every day of your onsite stay.

That's interesting, as we'd considered going with a free half board offer for our holiday next year, but we do like our hotel breakfasts. It's good to know that upgrading appears to be an option.
