Las Vegas - 3rd times the charm!

Hello

Thought I'd do a pre trip report for my upcoming trip to Vegas as I'm even boring my boyfriend waffling on about it and our plans and what I want to do

So first of all the cast... me (30) and my boyfriend (32) who have been together coming up 4 years. We both had our first trip to Vegas in June 2015 following on from our friends wedding in New York. We both fell in love with Vegas (other than my initial paddy upon check in which is becoming a habit - I put it down to flying nerves and being very tired from travelling ) We visited Vegas again last March and dare I say had an even better time.

Here's a few piccies from last year...

In about October time I was getting "the itch"... you know... the daily looking at Travel sites for deals and checking the price "just in case". Eventually (possibly just for want of an easy life!) my boyfriend said just book it He is quite happy to leave all the planning to me these days as knows I'll obsess and enjoy the researching too.

So on with the booking. We had flown Thomas Cook on our previous trips but this time something was pulling me towards Virgin (nothing to do with the free on board drinks and the possibility of having wifi I'm sure! ). Virgin was coming up slightly more expensive (or so I thought ) but it had a $9 a day breakfast credit each so after a bit of umming and ahhing we decided to go ahead and book it.

Further into our booking I found out that the price for selecting seats however was a good £50 each more than on Thomas Cook so felt a little but stung by this - I'm quite tall so I wanted the extra leg room also but comparatively the cost is ridiculous. I'm a nervous flyer though we agreed we'd pay it for the security of window seats and being together for the flight.

Our hotel of choice is cheap and cheerful at the Flamingo. We have stayed here on each of our last trips and never had a problem and both times have had a fantastic view. We really love the location of this hotel too as its in easy reach of most of our favourite hotels. We chose a strip view for just a little extra and intend to do the $20 trick on check in again.

We're show nuts (Butlins kid at heart) so planning lots of shows and lots of low level gambling and wandering around!

I've been on the groupons already too so will do a further update post on this.

Hope you've enjoyed reading so far (if you've got this far!) xxx

I do like the Flamingo , stayed there numerous times. Only thing I'm not too keen on is their buffet, the best thing about it is the enormous koi carp (to watch not eat !) and the showroom is really nice , proper Vegas showroom and Donny and Marie are really good .
Fab view of the fountains too from the Go rooms (love the chaise lounge in front of the window in the Go rooms to watch them).
$20 trick has always worked well for me there too.

Glad to see another Flamingo fan! We've done their buffet for brunch which has been nice but we've heard their dinner buffet isn't so great and overpriced. The unlimited mimosas with breakfast may have helped our opinion mind you! Glad the show room is nice as planning on seeing a show their this visit.
I agree with the views - first time we had a view of the fountains and Eiffel Tower and second time we had Caesars but could see the fountains corner on.

Would love to be able to afford the Cosmo with a balcony overlooking the fountains but I think it would use too much of my show budget sadly x

Those wraparound balconies at Cosmo are fab... but yeah pricey ! Ceasars have always responded really well to the $20 trick and put me in a better tower with a fab view and no trek through the casino.

We use myVEGAS points as well as groupon. Got some nice deals from them.

I did look at Caesars for this trip but it was about an extra £400 each which for the amount of time we spend in the room we decided against as we literally just get ready and sleep there really.

Just started on myVEGAS before Christmas - I've only managed to get about 12,000 gold coins though and got my boyfriend on it now too to see what we can get saved up :-) x

I agree , we had free nights with the Casino card (no idea how we aren't high rollers) so it was even cheaper than the Flamingo
