Mobile BA flight-booking seats

Hi all, does anyone have experience of waiting to book seats 24 hours before the flight? How did you get on? Did you get seats together?I'd rather not pay £240 minimum to ensure we sit together. Also my DD will be 12, everything I read refers to under 12 or over 12, what does my DD fall in to? TIA.

When we have checked in 24 hours before the flight they have always had the 4 of us together in the centre row so we have t had to change seats.

This year there are three of us so I am hoping we get three together in one of the outside rows.
We have never had to change anything.

We’ve done both, waited till 24 hrs and booked for free just less seats to chose from, also been unlucky when we left it later & forgot then I was sandwiched between 2 guys as I was stuck in the middle seats
We are 2 adults so don’t know about the child situation I’m sure someone will be along soon, or you could just tweet BA & confirm re your 12 year old.
We have just paid £58 for seats for the 2 of us, one way, don’t want to risk it now
Return journey with AA & they don’t charge for all their seats

For seating purposes on BA, children are age 2-11, so 12 is “over 12” and treated as an adult.

In general, BA does not split parties up deliberately. In economy, it’s only likely to happen (and even then not highly likely) if the flight is very full with a lot of families with children under 12. In other cabins, the risk is higher due to fewer seats and a higher proportion of people with advance seat selection privileges.

What’s your routing, and roughly when are you travelling?

We are travelling Gatwick-MCO October 20th, returning 11th November MCO-Gatwick.

Until this year, for the last 12 yrs I've always flown BA and never paid to book a seat. I just pick one at online check in 24 hrs before the flight and never had an issue. In fact one year, we booked in online, got to the airport the next day and checked in our luggage, but by the time we got to the gate we had been upgraded to club...very nice

They put our seats together and you can always move them. Just be online 24 hours before. Many people still wait to check in at the airport and they normally are the ones who miss out.

Just make sure its not an AA codeshare...they will charge you to sit together.
