I also take omeprazole for silent acid reflux, this caused my nasal passages to be inflamed and hence made more phlegm which builds up and causes a cough.

I get this, I used to cough so much I was physically sick - I’ve been on omeprazole for months now - it certainly helps with acid reflux & I’ve not been sick once since but I do still feel like my throat is blocked / swallowing alone doesn’t ‘clear’ it

Just learnt to live with it now, I’ve had cameras - nothing showed up which was a relief...

Sounds like you have a post nasal drip
I’ve been like this for years I have allergic rhinitis and I get clogged up especially in the mornings always clearing my throat, coughing after eating after every meal
I get acid reflux and have gaviscon on prescription as well as a nasal spray

I used to get this with dairy products, milk was the worst. I've cut all dairy out of my diet now and it seems resolved

Sounds like a GP appointment and perhaps an assessment of swallowing by a Speech & Language Therapist could be very useful.
It could be all matter of things and best to find out as soon as possible so correct treatment is identified - it's not normal and so best to get it checked.

I have suffered with GORD for a long time, but been pretty stable with symptoms, until 3 weeks ago when I had a McDonalds breakfast for the first time in a year and it has played my stomach up something rotten. I get a pain on my left hand side everytime I eat, as if the food is hitting something inflamed when going down, irritating the hell out of me. I always have to clear my throat after eating, doesn't matter what I eat. Waiting for a GP review on this. Omeprazole does seem to help.

If you want to try something over the counter first then Nexium are the same as Omeprazole.
Nexium contains Esomeprazole which is much better than Omeprazole. Not cheap to buy. Taken an hour before food.

I think it could be something simple requiring simple medication but it could be something more sinister.

It is important despite Covid that this is checked by a doctor and you dont simply by an over the counter medication to try to solve the issue.

Please, please make a GP appointment. The internet is not the place to diagnose things like this.
