Staying near to Disney Springs or on property in a non-Disney resort (like the Bonnet Creek hotels) is a good option. The hotels with suites near DS would give the best of both worlds and you *could* walk to DS and jump on the Disney transport from there. I have heard lots of people using that opportunity.
I don't know if the OP listens to the Great British Mickey Waffle, but we have been discussing accommodation options over the last couple of months, and in the show released on 1st February we will be looking at off-site options and how they measure up - it may be worth a tune in?
