Help needed with car hire

I am visiting Florida in May 17 and looking to hire a car but haven't got a credit card or the best credit rating. Are there any car rental companies that accept debit cards?

I always use my debit card with Alamo with no issues

As above ref Alamo. Plus most of the big Companies accept them

The problem is American Debit Cards are different to ours and some aren't backed by Visa etc hence they do more checks/put holds on for Americans.
Our Debit Cards are totally different so you will be fine with Alamo and most others.

Edit. I appreciate what you say about credit rating but have you thought about getting one of those Cards with a very low limit as it is a buffer to fall back on. Just a thought
