Eastern Caribbean excursions
Hi folks.
We are off on the fantasy again in oct 2014. Last year we did the same itinerary and have decided next time to visit St. John. Can anyone recommend excursions? We are a family of 4 and are probably looking to head to the beach. Disney trips sound ok but all involve snorkelling etc If doing one of the trips to the beach are you obliged to take part or is it optional? Thanks |

Disney Cruise Line VIP!

I'd imagine its optional but part of the charge would be for the hiring of the equipment.
Think I would just google nearby beaches and grab a cab!

Are you docking in St Thomas (USVI) and want to visit St John (BVI)? If so, you can get a taxi (shared) to Red Hook and catch the ferry over to Cruz Bay. You can pick up cheap island tours there as they wait for the ferry passengers. They will suggest places to visit or you can plan your own tour.
Just be aware that if you don't do a ship tour you are responsible for catching up with the ship if there is a problem/delay with the ferry and the ship leaves without you. Having said that, we've done it on our own with no problems. |

The Trunk Bay Snorkel and Beach Break is a good excursion if you don't want to necessarily snorkel. They take you to Trunk Bay and back and you have time to use the beach, swim, snorkel if you want, get a bite to eat. You can certainly do it on your own though.
We have done St John (USVI) on our own many times. Only once was it an issue. Make sure you know what the ferry schedule is and what time you need to be there because the signage was not good. We got to the dock and thought we missed the last ferry. Turns out they only listed the new trips, not the ones that were available longer. A bit of panicking but we finally realized it and got the ferry back. |
