We did what you are planning in return after stopping at Miami and stopped at Naples which is a good place for an overnight and a lovely place to look round.
If you are going to take an air boat tour in Everglades City then not far from there is a really interesting small museum at Chokoloskee (4 miles from Everglades City) - which is Smallwood Store. It opened in 1906 and was run and owned by Ted Smallwood a pioneer who traded with the local Indians. When it eventually closed in the 60's a lot of items were left behind. It is a great insight into what life was like in the area years ago. |
