I was quoted £302 pp for a 4 berth sleeper, so that's £1208.
The train from Bradford to London - I'm allowing £100 pp for that, so another £400.
The add on the meals - minimum of £50 pp - so another £200, then there is the journey accress Paris to change trains.
Comes out to around £1800 for the 4 of us.
I've got a flight quote from Jet2 for less than £1000 for all 4 of us.
Whilst I'd like to do the train, my wife Susan would prefer to fly - she will probably get her way

Hi, can I just ask where you got this quote from?

The train booking doesn't open up until around March and if you got a quote for those prices, then I may just fly or my DH would rather drive.

Although the prices aren’t out yet, going by the website, I worked out for us:

Eurostar to paris – £57pp

Paris to Barcelona (advanced purchase) - £86pp in summer

The advance purchase is a much cheaper way of booking the train hotel.
You can also take a picnic on to the train if you don't want to eat in the restaurant. We might opt for that as the kids are fussy eaters

We are flying direct from Southend airport, not as close as Stansted but worked out £300 cheaper not using Ryanair.

Have you considered driving to Barcelona?

Cheapest option and a good holiday experience.

My wife has a bad back and would not want to do all that time in a car.
I think we've pretty much decided to just get a plane from Leeds\Bradford as it's simple and only a few hours.

Looks like s pretty good hotel so I've booked to stay there before the flight.

Did you walk to Terminal one from the hotel or take the shuttle?

Can I hijack just to ask how people who are flying are getting to the city centre. I know there's a train but I'm thinking with the luggage we'll be bringing that won't be a good option so would it be best to pre book a transfer (one of the companies that have been mentioned on here for transfers from port to airport) or is it easy to pick up taxis when we get there (I presume it must be)? We're flying on Monarch and should land around midday but I'm not convinced we'll be on time so with that in mind, I'm concerned about booking a transfer.
