Virgin bonus miles and skip the counter

I understand that if you book a car with Virgin you get 1000 bonus miles by swiping your Flying club card upon car collection. Is this at the counter ?

How about if I have done the skip the counter check-in, where do you hand-in yr flying club card in that case ?

I don't think if you skip the counter there is anywhere to swipe a card as you just show the guy your voucher and he tells you which row to go to. I would imagine you have to go to the Virgin/Alamo desk

The Miles operate in two ways
With VA they are automatically added to your account without you doing anything in Orlando.
You get 1000 miles plus double the cost of your car hire cost. So for a £400 rental you get 800 miles

With VH it's a pain! You will need to chase them up to get your 1000 and I don't know about the others ones.

That's why I always book with VA.

Plus pay with a black Virgin Amex and get 4 times the rental cost, so for £400 you would get 1600 miles.

I was thinking to book with VA and not VH.

Good to know that it's done automatically ! Thanks for the info.

That's strange - last time i went with VH in 2014 i had no problems at all.
Didn't have to prompt them - all i did was hand my flying club card over with my license and visa debit card.
Was all credited to my account within the week if i remember correctly.
