Advice needed we leave today
Hi our son went to doctors on Monday as he had an infection of a scab on his leg, he was given antibiotics which he has started to take. Roll on to today the infected area has cleared up nicely now his ankle has swelled up big time, he can hardly walk. He has another appointment this morning we leave for the airport this afternoon.
My questions are if he can’t fly and we get him a tickets to fly out in a week perhaps do we just leave his original flight ticket open as such ? So he can return as usual ? Also if he can fly do you think he should wear some kind of stocking? I’m at my wits end this morning worrying. We have called the insurance company his morning and everything is covered. |

They will cancel his inbound if a no show for outbound. You will need to talk to them.
For the flight sock, ask the doctor if it is required. |

Fingers crossed for you, your doctors will be able to advise if he is fit to fly and what action to take. If you do need to change his flight make sure you speak to the airline as if he is a no show for the first leg his return will be cancelled.

Make sure you tell your insurance company, so he is covered if something went wrong when out there! Good luck

Thanks for all your replies, he has just got back and doctor says he will have to take steroids ontop of antibiotics. The ankle is huge, he said he would be ok to fly but he has to keep getting up and walking around the cabin, we all do that anyway. Thank goodness we are not doing any parks as he wouldn’t be able to get round. Hoping the steroids will kick in and things calm down a bit by tomorrow’s flight. Finger 🤞

Remember to update your travel insurance before you go. This is very important in case you have any issues while away. He has been prescribed medication so needs to let them know.
Im guessing you didnt get a letter from the doctor saying he is fit to fly. If this is the case, dont mention anything to the flight staff before take off. They could request proof of fitness to fly.
