Mobile Thomas Cook - Knock on effects

Not directly dibb related, currently, but predictions that the loss of TC could close ~500 hotels in Spain.

Its the express so pinch of salt comes into a bit. Surprised they didn't mention cause of cancer, the weather, Maddie and Diana somewhere in there as well.

However there is also a serious point to this. The money the hotels made from Thomas Cook must have been enough for them to survive/make a profit with the number of people Thomas Cook were able to take there by plane. Therefore the problem for the hotels is not their pricing but the availability of seats on planes to get the customers there. Hays travel taking over the shops is good but I'm not aware they are in the business of providing holidays. They are in the business of selling holidays others are providing.

Its going to need one of the others such as Jet2 to increase their seat capacity by putting on more planes to pick up the customers who now have less choice on who to book with.

Difficult times ahead.

I strongly believe that yes there will be knock on effects, but it will not be as bad as many believe. At the end of the day the x number of holiday makers that used to book with Thomas Cook will still go on holiday, they will book with someone else. The majority of the flight routes will get taken up by other companies, the hotels will be filled by other operators etc. I hope so anyway
