I’ve read some fantastic trip reports which have helped me immensely with our planning.

We are currently planning our 3rd trip to the West Coast and each time have incorporated a different experience.
Our first trip we based ourselves in Anaheim for a week and seen Disney, Knotts Berry, Santa Monica, LA and Universal Studios before moving to San Diego for a week where we fell in love with this city! Our 2nd trip we incorporated Yosemite and San Fran before heading south once again to San Diego but missing out LA and Disney. This year we start in SF going north to Lake Tahoe before coming south again but only as far as Disney. There is really so much to see and do on the West Coast and is vastly spread out, take time to enjoy the places you visit and try not to cram too much in. It is most definitely worth it, my advice would be to work out what you want to do use google maps to see the distances and work out if you can do it - physically. I have a couple of trip reports if they help in my signature and if you have any questions feel free to shout up xx

We did everything in little over 2 weeks back in 2016.
LA, Vegas, Death Valley, Yosemite, San Francisco, Disney. We put down everything we wanted to do then based on a lot of planning (research, reading trip reports, watching vlogs) we created a plan and had to knock out things we wouldn’t realistically have time for. Thankfully this list wasn’t too big. Our recommendations would be: LA - if doing Universal stay near there, but if not stay on coast ie Santa Monica and head in to do Hollywood, Beverley Hills etc. Certainly go see the carousel we’re Walt took his daughters! Vegas - stay central strip. Stayed in Caesar’s last time for 2 nights but we had done Vegas and Grand Canyon before. Yosemite - stay in the valley. We only had 2 nights so wanted to make the most without having to drive in and out... can get very busy for parking. San Fran - beautiful place and definitely take 3-4 days exploring. Alcatraz and Walt Disney family museum big highlights for us. Also head over to the little Mediterranean type village across the bay... can’t think of name whilst writing this. Take 2-3 nights heading down the West Coast road. Enjoy this drive. Oh and take in some Route 66 if driving between LA and Vegas. My trip report is on here ‘Suitcase and a Dream’... has a little more detail than above. Any questions happy to help! With exception of first time at WDW with DS last year this has to be the best (and most planned) holiday we have ever been on! |

Miked1d’s suitcase and a dream is one of my favourite trippies. Great, informative detail.
The ‘village across the bay’ that Mike refers to is probably Sausalito.
