My parents used to say “ Were you born in a field with the gate wide open?” whenever I left a door open! “Nope I was brought up better than that, but I’ll just be a second and I’m going right back” was my reply... being from a farming family you always kept the gates shut to prevent any animals escaping and causing accidents.
You would never suspect that Dad had the coal fire burning like a smelting furnace all year long😉

“Oh get a gander at that .. All fur coat and no knickers that one!” The exclamation from every woman in the street over the age of 40 when one of the local lasses went out all tarted up for a date with their boyfriends or girlfriends 🤪😳 and they say the current generation are judgemental😳

some of the things my dad & gran used to say i darent type on here

Whenever it was foggy, my uncle used to always say to us "it's so foggy, you can't see your hand behind your back".

I still say it to my daughter now and she's 24
