Where to stay in LA?

Me again!

Currently umming and ahhing about where to stay in LA. I'm pretty sure we're going to be there for 4 nights.

Planning on doing the following:

Warner Bros Studio Tour
Trip to Venice Beach
Griffiths Observatory
Tour of stars homes
Quick visit to the Hollywood Walk of Fame
Either Universal Studios or Six Flags Magic Mountain (erring towards Six Flags as my boys 13 & 17 love extreme coasters)

I was originally thinking of staying in Burbank as I know it's recommended a lot here on the lovely Dibb. A friend of mine who went a couple of years ago recommended staying in Beverly Hills (although it seems quite pricey! )

Where would you recommend?

Unless you really want to, the tour of the stars homes is really not great. I felt it just a waste of time to be honest, but that could just be me. Behind that wall, lives ... , behind that tree, lives ... Its almost better to do it on Google Maps and use the 3D option, then you get to actually see the house.

Beverly Hills is a great location, especially if not driving. It really depends on your budget before you can recommend areas in LA.

The first time we went together we stayed on W. Sunset Boulevard, it was a good location for eating out in the evening as loads of places an easy walk away. I can’t remember the name of our hotel (14 years ago) and can’t see it on google maps, I am sire I would know it if I saw it. We rarely hire a car in the US so we got taxis for our other activities.

On subsequent trips we have always stayed in Beverley Hills and we would again, the Beverley Hilton is a nice hotel in a good location.

We preferred the Burbank area, I’d base us there next time we visit. It just feels very Hollywood with all the studios around and those beautiful mountain views. Hollywood and Universal are also very close. Beverly Hills is lovely for half a day but it’s a very busy area with expensive shops and not an awful lot more we thought.
I traveled with just my teenage son and while I rarely felt unsafe, I felt Burbank was the safest area we visited so as a mum, this probably influenced me as well.
