Where to visit if using Eurotunnel

Hi all,

Looking for some suggestions! We’re planning on going away for a few days over Easter, and have seen that the tunnel is a fairly cheap option. We’ve used it before and quite like how simple it all is. However, we don’t know where to head once we get off the other side! The last few years we’ve visited a few places in a Belgium (Brugge, Ghent, Mechelen) as bolt ons to football team trips, and thought we’d try Brussels. However, the boys have said they’d like to go somewhere other than Belgium for a change. One suggested Paris, but DH is really not keen. And we’ve looked to try and tie in with a football match somewhere but apparently there are no decent games on.

Does anyone have any suggestions?! We don’t mind which direction we go, and wouldn’t mind ending up back in Belgium. Happy to travel around 4 hours max once we get off the train. There’s 4 of us including two teen boys (17 & 14). Going for 3 or 4 nights. We just like to mooch about new places, not too fussed on museums etc. Don’t mind a theme park .

Thanks in advance

Lille is nice and not to far to drive after you get off the tunnel.

We're just back from Efteling in Holland, it was about 3.5 hours from Calais.

Thank you both.

We used to visit Efteling when I was little (we lived in Germany). I’d love to go back and see it now!

Hi Colette

I had a quick peep at CP, however it’s supposed to a cheapy break and it was coming in quite expensive. DH has a load of IHG points saved up for accommodation.

I thought of you the other day funnily enough. We were at St Mary’s watching Spurs

Lille is a lovely city about an hours drive from Calais.

There is a nice zoo in the centre of a large park, it’s not huge but only about €4 each and worth a visit.

Lots of fab restaurants and shops to explore.

We go most Easters incl this one coming. We try and tie it in with a home game at Den Haag.
Great euro football experience, similarly Ajax. Fab stadium tour there.

Easy access to Amsterdam, keukenhof flower gardens, cycling etc.

It's around 3.5hrs from coquelles.

NB. Plenty of threads on here on duinrell. Free theme park ana d excellent indoor water park.

Try booking CP via the dutch site, we did that and it was significantly cheaper, they were giving a large reduction for families booking with children.
