USA ATM withdrawal fees for Starling Card
Not sure what forum to put this one in so please move mods if required
Has anyone made ATM withdrawals using starling card in the US? If so which banks have you found charge the lowest fee? I didn’t withdraw any cash last year only used card payments but I’ll need to get cash out this time. I’m going East coast DC area if that makes a difference to bank locations Thanks |

If you can find a Wawa gas station they have fee free cash machines you can get up to $300 per day from.

Starling don’t charge for any ATM withdrawals , used mine 100s of times in the years I’ve had it .
But some ATMS charge for usage no matter what card you use . I find ATMs attached banks don’t charge where as ones in say malls and theme parks do |

Maybe it depends on the limit imposed by your bank but I've been able to get $600 out on each transaction for a few years at the Wawa on 192/Avalon. Maybe four transactions in a 4 week stay. That's with a basic HSBC debit card though.
Yes I belong to that much maligned group of Dibbers who use cash at restaurants and gas stations. Mick

Im with you. I don’t like to let someone else handle my cards, especially in restaurants if they take it away from the table for processing.
Also I never use a debit card on holiday just in case it gets scammed and I end up 4,500 miles from home with no money. I use my credit card to get cash at an ATM and transfer money to it from my debit card the same day to avoid the CC company’s fees. |

Actually Linda we do that as well. Credit card not debit card. We pay it off on the same day from pool side at the villa.
Still pay a foreign currency fee but the exchange rate is business rate and a bit better than the tourist rate so tends to balance out within a couple of $$ Mick

I've attracted the occasional keyboard warrior on here who suggests that at 74 years old and after 36 visits I'm incapable of knowing the difference between a $1 bill and a $50 - they don't stay long though
We don't stay in hotels but we use CC for larger purchases at the likes of Macy's, JCP and B&BW. Cash for gas, restaurants and most supermarket shops. To many news stories on Fox 35 and WFTV about CC skimming at gas stations Mick
