Did You Know? - SeaWorld Rescue Interview
I recently had the chance to visit Seaworld Orlando and interviewed Jon (JP) Peterson.
JP is passionate about marine mammal rescue and rehabilitation. He talked to me about how they rescue distressed dolphins and manatees. How they are rehabilitated and released and importantly how this affects his family life, being constantly on call. JP has been on the forefront of animal rescue for over 25 years. He is responsible for all rescue operations and the care of rescued animals. JP’s leadership expertise in animal care, transport and rescue is highly regarded worldwide in the animal rescue and rehabilitation community. To date, SeaWorld Parks have rescued a combined total of over 35,000 animals. Conservation is close to the heart of the rescue team. SeaWorld chose to get rid of single use plastics in their parks a couple of years ago for the good of the planet. The oceans are suffering because of mans waste ending up in the sea. By preventing the needless use of plastic it means less waste ending up in places it should never be and causing less harm to marine life. Edited at 09:31 AM. |
