My daughter got one and the stand, it is currently still in the box in her bedroom with the stand on the floor.
She hasn't looked at it since she returned.
They are nice enough things but not really worth the money and have limited long term appeal in my opinion but infairness when we are all on holiday we all get stuff that you never use or wear when you get back home.
Look how many people buy wands and robes from Universal and HP Studios tour in the UK.
Slightly off topic wile talking about the robes, a server in NBC Grill was telling some people who were in the clothing business to guess how much they buy in the robes for, he said it was $5 and said Universal loved it and were making a killing.

Got to admit I thought they were underfed bald parrots that were sitting on the kids shoulders...

Personally, I think part of the fun would be going and choosing one for yourself.

I know when my son was young he loved picking his way through the Star Wars stuff. Although he would have appreciated anything that someone else brought back for him it's not the same as experiencing the excitement yourself!

I'd wait, your countdown is ages away, he'll have forgotten all about banshees by then🙂

I wish he wad 4 again asking santa for sprouts for christmas
My daughter is a small 10 years old and she manages to put it on her shoulder OK, it's not perfect but she gets away with it so he should be OK. Think we paid around $65 for it and she's only used it once since we got home a couple of weeks ago. To be honest it was all about buying one at the time, she was so proud that she had it on her shoulder while we were there, plus it was all part of the experience after riding FOP. Disney know what they are doing alright $$$$$$$.

Haha I think the.novelty would definitely soon wear off. I think we will wait. If he still wants one in a couple of years he can.choose his own. Thanks

My 12 year old son bought one. It cost $63.99 and he loved it whilst we were there & I haven't seen it since we got home. Personally I would have rather he hadn't have bought it but he'd saved for it and was adamant he wanted it, his money/his choice but I think it's very expensive for what it is!

You should contact merchandising:

or email: Merchandise.Guest.Services@DisneyParks.com

Explain the problem. They will be quite happy to replace.

We bought DD (9) one in July - she had an excellent school report so got to choose something as a reward and was really taken my the Banshees.

However she showed it off to her friends when we got home and I don't think she has been out since!

The plush toy we bought in Avatar has been played with more and was only a 1/3 of the price

Brilliant thanks everyone. Not going to get one. If he still wants one when we go he can get one himself!
