Now I am confused (but not overly worried ... yet)

We hired a car through Alamo Brits (pick up and drop off @ MCO) last week. We did the "pay for now" option.

Alamo have already taken the full cost as displayed on the confirmation screen (£298) off our credit card. Do I need to expect a further hit on our card when we get to the Alamo kiosk @ MCO ?

No, no hit. Never had it yet and I have done it for years.

The only hit you'll get should you choose it is a tank of fuel

From what others have said... no. When I did the prepaid option before they charged for a tank of pre paid fuel. I think officially in terms and conditions somewhere it says they can hold the $100 per week from the card but rarely seem to.

I am going to change to Alamo Brits because they have told mepre-paid reservations is a hold of $100 a week instead. We also have to have a hold for our hotel room and also for our cruise so need to make sure all the "hold" funds are on the card prior to travelling.
I have never had a hold on a pre paid rental if I have taken full cover in fact I once got away with using a pre loaded card and there was only £100 on it so there was no way they was getting a hold on that.
