Excited about Disney
|
We bought a cheap Garmin and the US maps rather than hire a GPS, it has then been used a couple of times and shared with my family and friends. In addition to taking a GPS I'd recommend the Mapman map just search on DIBB and you'll find it. Its really helpful for finding restaurants and supermarkets but restricts its coverage in any details to the immediate Disney/Universal area.
We have used a couple of different rental firms near Disney property who offered collection service, so we got on a mini bus at our hotel taken to Disney Car Centre or Hilton Bonnet Creek and collected car from their. In our experience this also avoids the big sell. If you book with someone like Alamo their GOLD package has all the insurance you'd need. There is a section in the DIBB guidebook on car hire so worth a look. We use the Trunki Boostapak someone has already mentioned, saves someone having to do a trip to supermarket on their own just to buy a car seat. Best things about staying on site at Disney is getting on the "Mickey bus" as its come to be known in our house and not having to deal with driving until you've got your wits about you. Also worth considering if you need car for duration of stay if your planning on spending lots of time in parks and/or have DDP. Car is great but a bit of a luxury if you won't be leaving for much. |

I just use my phone sat nav, you can get a sim card from the 3 network and get the international tariff when you top up (pay as you go) , then have any calls diverted from your old number to the new sim for the duration of your holiday then you can use your data as if you are at home. Just look on the 3 website.

As above. Use the 3 network. And then download the waze app and you will be good to go. Don't forget a phone mount, having the girlfriend try to tell me when to turn was a nightmare. Will be much easier with your phone screen fixed and visable somewhere

We hired a sat nav from ebay twice. Had no problems at all cost us £25 each time so maybe if you're going a few times it would work out cheaper to buy. Can't beat a mapmans map for getting around once you're there though.

Another vote for using the 3 pay as you go sim card. Used it last year and used googlemaps for driving and it worked a treat.
Means you can also browse the internet etc when away from wifi areas |
