Port Canaveral to Universal?
Hi everyone,
We are booked for the Disney Dream cruise on 28th April. We are leaving the cruise to go to the Hard Rock Hotel, so can't use a Disney Cruise line bus. We have booked DIY so have no travel agent to book transfers with. How should we get from Port Canaveral to Hard Rock? Are there taxis outside? Or ubers? Has anyone done this before that could tell us what they paid? Trying to budget / plan eek. Thank you in advance if anyone can help xx Edited at 09:47 PM. |

I'd look at booking a limo (I think Larry's limo still exists and services that area). Although in the UK they are mega expensive in the US they work out reasonable if there are a few of you.

Can't you use the Disney express back to Disney hotel then get a taxi from there.

No, I'm afraid not and it wouldn't be a good cost option anyway as you'd be paying $35 each plus the cost of a cab from Disney resort to US.
We always do a one way car rental, are you able to do that?

Thank you, I looked at the car rentals last night and mentioned it to my DBF but he isn't keen - we have never hired a car in the US before (or anywhere else) and he prefers an easy life - however a taxi can't be an option as its $150.
We are staying at the Beach Club, then Disney Cruise, then Hard Rock. How would we hire a car? - I need an idiots guide here! I looked last night and saw you can pick up a Disney car one way for $50? Is that with insurance? What happens when you get to the port? |

We got the Disney transport back to MCO then used Mears Transport to get to the Hard Rock. It was $35 dollars each for the Disney transfer and I think about $12 each for the Mears. It worked really well, we were at the Hard Rock by about 11am and in the parks by 12!
The Disney bus drops off right next to where the Mears desk is and also where the pick up point is so very straight forward. |

We are doing the Dream first (in October) and then a couple of nights at Royal Pacific Resort at Universal, before a couple of weeks at Caribbean Beach Resort. What I've done is to book the Disney Magical Express back to MCO and then we're going to collect a hire car from there, as we will use it for the next 2 and a bit weeks anyway. It's a bit of back and forthing but I couldn't think of another way to do this, that was affordable - the only other option was to collect a hire car from Port Canaveral and then drop it off at the airport, but this was really expensive.

We did Vegas to Orlando last year with a one night stay on I drive before our cruise. I booked transfers from MCO to I drive, I drive to port and port to MCO from here before we left. There were ten of us so needed a minivan. Excellent service from Florida Transport Group. Couldn't fault them.
I've looked back the paperwork as I kept the email confirmation for this year (we are going back ) but I don't have a note of the price sorry. |
