Cruising and Car Hire ... help!

Just wanted to add that, like welshwiz we use Alamo's Skip the Counter service too and can also recommend. I'd use them even if they weren't the cheapest simply for that!

Yes it's really good , used it in 2015 but at the moment B.A are working out cheaper and if we add an hotel stay on can pay with a deposit and of course use Avis Preferred .

Reporting back that everything was as straightforward as I'd hoped

We arrived at MIA car rental return by 10 am and got the free cruise terminal shuttle almost immediately. On our return, we had a 20 minute wait for the shuttle. The buses were packed (both ways) but the drivers were helpful with the cases. Worth the tip I thought.

Next year's January cruise is from Fort Lauderdale and we'll be using Alamo again. You probably know, but with BA and Avis you get an additional driver free if you are members of their Executive Club, and additional Avios.

Just to let you know for next year - Fort Lauderdale has an airport/port shuttle too which is free for some car hire companies. I think we were Alamo.

We did this the other year and was cheaper than doing 2 car hires ..We flew into Orlando had a few days in Sebastian ..then stayed overnight in Miami @Hampton Inn Miami coconut Grove ...left car there for a week ( included in the nights stay as were transfer to port ) .You paid taxi back $20 picked car up and then headed straight over to Anna Maria Island for the last 10 days . Worked great for us ...Left all the luggage that we didn't need for cruise in car .
