I agree, any red wine from Chile is lovely.

In our Sainsbury’s they sell a range of small bottles (35cl I think) so maybe get a few different ones to try.

(Reading this back I may sound like I have a red wine problem, I assure you I don’t! )
I love Rioja, and agree with the above suggestions. Slightly more expensive, the Campo Viejo reserve is very nice.

I love red wine, and have a few favourites.
Merlot is often a safe bet, most pubs do an ok one.
Rioja I love to drink when in Spain, not too keen on Campo Vieja. Faustino 1 though is a really nice one.
Chateauneuf du Pape is another really nice red, but it does depend on personal tastes.
Personally, I’m not a fan of Shiraz, but do like some Malbecs.

Anything as long as it's not Californian. Sad to say but that lost its way years ago and albeit slowly coming back has a long way to go.

I quite like Rioja. Club Privado is quite a nice one.
St Emillion is also good and Sainsbury’s have a pretty good one that’s not too expensive. It’s usually on offer.
Hmm, what else? Mencia! That’s good too

We prefer Italian or Spanish reds, like many have already mentioned Rioja and Barolo are good. Here are a few of our favourites; the Faustino Rioja which Asda sell for £6. Sainsbury’s have a Sangiovese for £4.95 and Aldi’s Chianti at £4.49 are all good. For a treat a nice Barolo prices vary from £10 to £18 we like the Lidl, Aldi and Sainsbury’s versions but not keen on the one from Tesco, not that we drink a lot !
