Yes, the Alton Towers cable cars are also 10-person vehicles.

AT's Skyride apparently has a maximum throughput of 2880 people per hour (although I suspect its normally about half this). As a comparison, between CBR and HS there are roughly 5 buses an hour and each bus can probably carry around 60 people. So that's around a maximum of 300 people per hour - twice that for there and back.

At least the resort buses might be a bit quieter
It'll be so different won't it. Glad I managed to get lots of photos of how it is now. 😳

I'm excited by this. I wonder how many gondolas there'll be as 800-3,000 people per hour capacity is quite a big range.
Also wonder if they're all on the same circuit (per line), i.e. whether it'll grind to a halt a la Haunted Mansion in order to let mobility scooters on and off.

They have a very high throughput for very few workers and are very effective at what they do. Their downside is they are hard to disguise will look like a row of pylons . Still the idea of getting from your resort to a park via cable car in 10 minutes is a great selling point!

just remember as well as the well dodgy one in butlins ayr

ive also been on this one

nevisrange/gondola-info.asp

Britains' only Mountain Gondola system

The gondolas transport visitors effortlessly from 300ft up to 2150ft on the north face of Aonach Mor

guess who makes it

The Doppelmayr gondola system comprises of 80 six seater closed cabins running on a continuous 4.6km steel cable weighing 40 tons. The cable and gondolas are supported between 18 pylons, 2 masts, and 2 drive station structures each anchored in 200 tonnes of concrete.
The system spans 2.3km of the hillside from the base station at 300ft to the top station at 2150ft. There are specific ambulance, freight and service gondolas. The rated carrying capacity of the gondola system is 1700 persons per hour at any one time.

These things are notoriously unreliable. The ones at Alton Towers rarely operate these days and have to stop every time somebody arrives/departs in a buggy/wheelchair

I can;t imagine these been the nicest of places to spend time during a thunderstorm
