Old magic bands

Hiya,

We have magic bands from our 2016 off site trip. Will be going back in 2018 and staying off site again. I understand the bands have changed? Do the old ones still work? Can you use them on more than one trip etc?

Yes they should still work.

They should still work as long as the battery inside them still works. On the original magic bands this was non-replaceable and probably still is. If that is the case you will have to have new magic bands.

What do the new bands do that the old ones don't? If they are super snazzy I may as well buy new ones anyway haha!

The middle pops out so you can put in a Pendant around your neck. They are plain coloured tho.

The middle comes out so you can put it on a key ring and I found them slightly more comfortable. There's lots of new designs too. This years flower and garden one was really nice!

In theory Magic bands work forever as long as they are not damaged. The only function that ceases over time is the long range RFID which automatically detects if you are on a ride and thus adds photos and the two mini videos automatically. Once the enclosed battery fails so does this function. You can still tap the bands on the Mickey readers at each ride to get your photos.
